Power XL Microwave Air Fryer

This is a nice bit of kit and is an addition to our Uten smart oven. It is big and beautiful and needs a lot of worktop space. We bought it to replace our very small Combination Microwave, mainly because it is a countertop oven and a microwave that has plenty of space. The rotating plate is about 32cm (a little over 12 inches). You can chose to use it as a Microwave or Oven or Air fryer but only one at a time. The 900w Microwave is very capable with fairly easy controls. The Oven is also very capable and has several built-in programs. It is basically a countertop fan oven. The Air fryer option appears to work quite well but it isn’t clear what it does different to the Oven mode but again it does have some built-in programs.

The inside is all stainless steel and easy to clean, the rotating glass plate is easy to clean. In operation, it is fairly quiet but not silent. It comes with a removable 2 tier metal rack and baking tray, which shouldn’t be used when microwaving.

The only thing I would whinge about is the internal light, which comes on anytime the door is open. This means if you want to leave the door open to allow any moisture to escape and generally dry out, the light stays on.

The instruction book includes a few recipes but you can download a PDF document that gives a further 17 recipes. Many would find this lacking but there are 100s of air fryer recipes to be found by trawling the Web. Unfortunately most “Air Fryer” recipes seem to be for the pull out single or double baskets so you need to have a play. Here is a good site that offers a good slection of air fryer recipes but there are plenty more.

Overall, IMO the (smart) oven style Air Fryers do tend to be more versatile but do tend to cost more. If the Power XL had a rotisserie, it would be a game changer.
