Who is Hairy Grandad

February 2023

DVOIT is my past life before retiring. For over 40 years computers and technology have been my life and I still to some extent eat, breathe and sleep computers and technology. Since retiring I’ve been able to “let go” a little but I’m still the “IT Wizard” that has to sort out the tech problems. My new life in retirement is allowing me to do more cooking. I’ve been cooking for 50+ years and have always enjoyed doing so. I’ve now taken over the kitchen and do most of the cooking because its something  I enjoy. When I’m in the kitchen, I’m in a world of my own and when I’m listening to awesome music from the likes of Andrea Bocelli and Gigliola Cinquetti while I’m cooking, it’s a world that makes me happy. I also enjoy listening to a wide variety of music, Def Leppard, Status Quo, Beatles, Il Volo and many others.

Unfortunately everyday seems to be ground hog day. I get up when I want, go to bed when I want  and I generally do what I want and generally don’t have to do anything I don’t want to do, this seems ideal but it isn’t 🙁

I’ve been called many names over the years, some less complimentary than others but my 2 favourite names are “Dad” and “Grandad” because there are only a few special people that can “legitimately” call me these.

Hairy Grandad is what my 7 grand kids call me because I have a lot of hair, unlike their other grandads.

So Hairy Grandad is my nom de plume and the changes to DVOIT website will reflect this, I’ll probably still post IT related stuff but most of the new content will be more about cooking and stuff not IT related. The Reality “Tab” is my thoughts based on my traversal through the “University of Life” and yes I’m still learning. As a “Time served” apprentice Engineer, logic and reasoning tend to influence my thoughts but I like to see the funny side of things. I do tend to use sarcasm quite a lot but only in a fun way. Many people would disagree with my “opinions” but am I bothered?

Life is today, Yesterday has gone and cannot be changed, tomorrow is only a maybe, that will never change!

Carpe Diem – “Seize the day” or more correctly “pluck from the day that which is best” or “just do it”. The message here is, “today you are alive and have choices to be happy and to help others be happy”. Tomorrow is not guaranteed, you might not get to experience tomorrow and everything it throws at you. Enjoy today, make the best of it and if tomorrow comes it will become today 🙂

I could say “down with procrastination, starting tomorrow” and some people would find this amusing because it is 🙂
