November 2022
The safe answer is probably YES but it would appear we are only damaging the planet with regard to human, animal and maybe plant life.
This is basically a bit of a brain dump and is an attempt to do some joined up thinking and maybe a few steps backwards to see the bigger picture to try to remove preconceived ideas and “agenda” thinking. Hopefully it will help identify the BS that we are being fed.
This planet we call Earth was (apparently) formed some 4 BILLION years ago +/- a Million or so and it was formed (apparently) some half a Billion years after our Sun was formed. It has survived and evolved over 4 BILLION years (in human terms that is like 4 x forever). It has its own “maintenance system“, which includes the movement of the tectonic plates and resultant Earthquakes along with Volcanoes. The planet is also subject to the “natural rhythm” of the galaxy and indeed the “rhythm of the universe“. The “Universe” is a very complex system and it is very unlikely that we have a full and complete understanding of it or indeed can influence or alter this “natural rhythm“. A lot of humans are tool makers, scientists and engineers, basically we are awesome but “nature” is even more awesome by a long chalk!
The Earth has apparently had an atmosphere for 2 – 2.5 Billion years, this means it evolved over 2 BILLION years without an atmosphere!
The Earth has had 4 Billion years more experience than humans. It has survived many climate changes and being struck with countless meteors, all before humans started to inhabit the Earth. Plant life has been around long before humans, as have “insects”. Plants (vegetation), insects and “simple life forms” (like fungi and algae) all apparently create the Earths “Eco system“. Our ancient human ancestors (e.g. Incas, Moors and others before) appear to have had a good understanding of living in a “planet friendly way” but religion, social dogma, greed and corruption have; over the years, made us discount this. Copernicus is a good example with regards to his scientific findings, he was imprisoned because the “Church” thought he was blaspheming! Such is the power of religion (mind control) compared to science.
Going off track for a bit. Many / Most of our Scientific / natural “Laws” were discovered Hundreds (or even thousands) of years ago by awesome people that did not have the benefit of computers or modern scientific instruments. In many cases it was “science by observation”, they didn’t have much in the way of “published information”. They did not have the Internet or TV but they shame our modern scientists who have all the “mod cons” and computers but don’t seem to come up with anything spectacular. There are many “scientists” from the past that made discoveries that still apply in our modern world, they got their hands dirty and put their brains into gear. Isaac Newton achieved most of his “discoveries” before the age of 26! Then we have Torricelli (Barometer), Boyle (Gases pressure & Volume), Hook (Law of Elasticity), Watt (Electrical), Pascal (Hydrostatics) and many more. We can go back further to people like Da Vinci and even further back to people like Archimedes. We can go back even further to the Byzantine period. In our modern world we have the “mod Cons” and computers to aide us in our scientific discoveries but in many cases Religion (mind control), Politics (mind control) and “Big Business” (profiteers) seem to be able to control our scientific discoveries and this is never for the benefit of us all.
Back on track 🙂
In our “Milky way” (a Spiral galaxy) the Earth just happens (maybe by chance) to be the right size and be in the right place to support the amount of water that we have and other factors which also makes it ideal for human population.
The planets “maintenance system” is not and will never be for the benefit of humans because humans have only been around for a few thousand years. The Earth has been in existence for 4 BILLION years. It is possible that “Alien” lifeforms existed on the Earth before humans and it is possible that “Alien” life forms currently co-exist with humans but that would seem unlikely. For an “Alien” life form to visit the Earth, they would have to be so far technologically advanced that it would make humans look like “Amoeba”. It is possible that “Alien” life forms have existed on Earth and left their seed. Whatever the thinking, the movement of the Tectonic plates, Earthquakes and Volcanoes are the Earths survival methods and this will never change.
Earthquakes and Volcanoes (apparently) do immeasurable “damage” to the Earth (in human terms) and the movement of the Tectonic plates is responsible for the constantly changing landscapes, where land masses are changed. Some land masses are now above sea level and some are now below sea level. This constantly changing of our landscapes is normal and natural but doesn’t always sit well with humans. We need to adjust to the constantly changing world and stop whinging and moaning. The Climate has been constantly changing for BILLIONS of years, Global Warming and Global “cooling” have occurred many times over the past 4 BILLION years. It isn’t anything that humans have ever had any control of or will likely ever to have control of!
It would seem that “plant life” (vegetation) and Insects are a major part of the Earths “Eco System” that apparently help the Earth survive. Things like Algae and Bees etc appear to play a very important role in the Earths Eco system and if this is true we need to protect and respect this but does the Earth need an “Eco System” to survive! It apparently does with regards to Humans, Plants and Animals but the Earth didn’t have an “atmosphere” until some 2+ BILLION years ago. This suggests that the planet survived and evolved for 2 BILLION years without an atmosphere and there would not have been an “Eco System” as such. This suggests that the Earth doesn’t really need plants and vegetation to survive and it is likely that it doesn’t need an atmosphere to survive! It certainly does not need humans to survive. With this in mind, damage created by humans could be seen as insignificant unless we factor in the survival of humans, animals and plant life!
Humans (Carbon based life forms) started to inhabit the Earth at least 40,000+ years ago (see caves in Spain) also see caves in the Mekong delta – Vietnam. There is a suggestion that humans could have been around about 1 million+ years ago but there isn’t much in the way of supporting evidence. If this is factual it is likely that they would have been in parts of the Earth that were not “Ice Bound”. It is suggested by some that the area now known as Iraq is the birthplace of human civilisation. There are many ancient civilisations that would make this arguable. There are many “lost” ancient civilisations and it’s likely that we won’t get to know the true story but it is very likely that (some) humans are the seeds of “extra terrestrials”. If this is factual, it would explain a few inconsistencies but we need to concentrate on the present and give thought about the future.
In the “grand scheme of things”, humans currently have a typical life span of about 70 years, juxtaposition that with 4 BILLION years and it would seem that humans are insignificant with regard to the “natural rhythm” of the Universe.
Dinosaurs (probably Carbon based life forms) were on the Earth (apparently) before humans and were (apparently) in existence for some 180 Million years before an Ice age wiped them out some 65 / 66 Million years ago. It seems that the Dinosaurs lived in a period when the Earth was mostly “tropical” and It seems that the last time the Earth was completely “Ice Bound” was about 650 Million years ago (see Snowball Earth). The Earth apparently started to warm again about 1.2 Million years ago after being in an ice age for some 65 Million years and “the melting of the glaciers” are (apparently) responsible for most of our current landscapes and this may continue because we are still coming out of an ice age. It isn’t clear if the melting of the glaciers formed features such as the “Andes” or the other mountain ranges. It takes a lot of imagination to accept that the melting of the glaciers formed features such as mount Everest, the ice would have had to be very very thick!
Note. An “Ice Age” is defined by experts as “Having Ice at the Polar Caps”. This could suggest that when there is no ice at the polar caps, it is no longer an ice age! I’m sure there will be lots of “experts” with different “opinions” but we need to keep in mind that “opinions” are not facts. It would seem that “Ice Age” can mean different things to a lot of people. We often hear people say something like “at the end of the last ice age” but if we have ice at the polar caps, we are still in an ice age and global warming will probably continue until we are no longer in an ice age. Global Climate change is constant and is nothing new. With regard to the “rapidly increasing Global Warming”, it would seem that some people have an agenda! Accepting that Earth is still coming out of an ice age, the very nature of ice thawing is not linear. As ice melts, it starts slowly then gathers pace until it has fully defrosted. This is BASIC science!
Basically we (modern) humans have become parasites on this planet, we don’t contribute anything to the survival of the planet but early humans apparently were benign and lived their lives that would be considered today as sustainable. They (apparently) lived by eating, sustainable foods. They used sustainable materials for housing and clothing so they basically lived a “planet friendly” life. But things changed and we have for a few hundred years raped the planet of its resources, big style, and continue to do so because our numbers have increased many fold. We (humans) all need feeding, housing and clothing but we need to do so in a planet friendly way.
It is likely that the resources we have “extracted” will have little impact on the survival of the planet but we need to be mindful that the planet is a rotating object that needs to maintain its “balance” otherwise, it could alter its natural orbit around the Sun; which could cause global warming or even global cooling! Our mining of ores and extraction of oil and gases make big holes in the Earths crust. Our building of huge lakes / reservoirs could create an “out of balance” situation that could take a long time for the Earth to rectify or it could increase the occurrence of Earthquakes and Volcanoes, who knows!
We know that the Earth revolves around an “imaginary” axis and this changes. We know that “Magnetic North” is variable. We know that the planet revolves and that the speed of its revolution is subject to change. We know that the ores we mine and the crude oil and natural gases that we extract will eventually deplete. The movement of the tectonic plates, earthquakes and volcanoes are part of the Earths maintenance and these probably help keep the Earth in balance but what about the “rotational speed”? We don’t yet appear to fully understand what causes the Earth to rotate or what controls it, it is likely that gravity and the rhythm of the Universe control this. Maybe it is like a spinning top and will eventually stop spinning but it seems that it has been spinning for some 4 BILLION years and not as a result of human activities. Can modern human activities affect this? It is very unlikely!
All the bollux about “Climate Change”, “Global Warming”, “Green house Gases” and “carbon foot print” appear to be “profit led” and in most cases are part of an (hidden) “Agenda”. The Earth will survive as it has done for 4+ Billion years. It has endured many “Ice ages” and “Global warming” and the evidence for this can be obtained by records “set in stone” e.g. Core samples. The Earth doesn’t need Humans, Animals or Plants to survive!
When we know for sure what caused the planet to start warming about 1.2 Million years ago, after being in an ice age for some 65 Million years, we will have a better understanding of how we can live WITH the planet without causing any (apparent) harm to it, otherwise we will continue to be parasites. We know that humans didn’t cause the Earth to start warming 1.2 Million years ago because humans were not around or were not around in significant numbers to cause Green House gases.
If the Earth started to warm 1.2 Million years ago due to “Green house Gases”, it wasn’t anything that humans were responsible for. The only identifiable “causes” of “Green house Gases” during the 65 Million years of “Ice age” would be things like Volcanoes. Plants / trees (vegetation) would not have had any effect if they were covered with ice.
With regard to the onset of the Ice Age some 65 Million years ago, there is a suggestion that a huge meteor impacted the Earth and created a dust cloud which blocked the heat from the Sun and caused an “Ice Age”, that wiped out the Dinosaurs. Along the similar vain, the meteor created a huge Tsunami which wiped out the Dinosaurs but this wouldn’t have caused an Ice Age. It is likely we will never know for sure but it would seem that Ice Ages and Global Warming are cyclic. However, Global Warming and Cooling can also be the result of “external” events. The Earth is one of many planets in the Milky Way Galaxy and there are many Galaxies in the Universe.
The real problem we are facing is the survival of humans. Apparently humans started out as 2 people, (1 male and 1 female) but our numbers now exceed 7 BILLION. That is 7 BILLION humans and we all need feeding, housing and clothing. We are nothing short of being an infestation that rapes the planet of its resources and give nothing in return. We are now approaching a stage where humans count 8 BILLION and we all need feeding, shelter and clothing.
So what caused the Earth to start warming again, about 1.2 Million years ago? After many years of research, I have yet to find a definitive answer other than “Cyclic Climate Changes“, which are part and parcel of being a planet in our solar system. All planets are subject to the natural forces and rhythm of the Galaxy and ultimately the universe. Gravity is a major factor as is “Dark Matter“. If you are in “agreement” of the “Big Bang” theory, you would probably agree that the Universe is still expanding and at some point Gravity will cause it to shrink back into a Black Hole and start again. We have lots of “Boffins” and they don’t all agree on the “Big Bang” theory and some of those that do don’t always agree that the Universe is still expanding and argue that it has now started to shrink. The one thing to be mindful of is Gravity and Dark Matter, these are very powerful (natural) forces and we might not yet fully understand how these powerful forces affect the Earth or other planets in our Galaxy.
There is so much we don’t yet fully understand about our wonderful planet and its relationship with other planets and indeed its relationship with the Universe but until we fully understand the “mechanics” of our wonderful planet and the “mechanics” of the universe, it would make sense for humans to live in a sustainable (benign) fashion that does no (apparent) harm to the planet or cause any negative actions with regard to the survival of the planet. With 7+ Billion humans, it will be very difficult for us to live only using sustainable and renewable “products” for housing, clothing and “Energy” but maybe not so difficult with regard to food. Humans are naturally omnivores, we have teeth designed to eat meat (flesh) but modern humans tend to eat meat (flesh) that is cooked. We are also naturally consumers of vegetables, seeds and nuts etc. In an ideal situation we have a “balanced Diet” of meat, vegetables, seed and nuts etc. I and probably most people eat a variety of vegetables but also eat meat so it could be said that most of us are vegetarians that also eat meat 🙂
With regards to the survival of the planet, it will likely continue to survive as it has done for 4 BILLION years but maybe not to support human life. Its size and unique position in the Galaxy should ensure that it will survive as a planet that contains water and continues to have an atmosphere. It would appear that the planet has had many Ice ages and “tropical” periods over the past 4 BILLION years and these appear to be cyclic. The planet is also subject to the “rhythm” (forces) of the universe and it is very unlikely that humans can change this. The Earth is just one of many planets in our galaxy and there are (apparently) about 125 BILLION Galaxies in our Universe. It would seem that humans and their activities are insignificant. In the grand scheme of things, the Earth and its inhabitants are akin to an “Ant Colony” in a bell jar but what about “chain reactions” where small changes create a ripple of changes that ultimately result in big changes! Who can confidently predict the effect of small changes and the chain reactions of events that follow? I would suggest no one!
We can’t replace the natural gas or crude oil or the mined ores that we have extracted but the planet doesn’t seem to need these to survive. The movement of the tectonic plates, earthquakes and volcanoes will likely try to keep the Earth in balance without affecting the orbit around the Sun. Land masses will continue to move, the Earth will continue to warm until the current ice age ends e.g. we have no ice at the polar caps and then it will likely start cooling again as part of the cyclic nature. The Earth will continue to be part of the Solar system and will continue to be subject to the “Rhythm of the Universe”. The Earths axis will continue to change, magnetic North will continue to change. Humans cannot change this, we are merely parasites but if we are to continue to survive we need to adapt to the changes and live in harmony with the planet like our ancestors did!
If humans are to survive, we NEED to live by making sure that our food, housing and clothing are from sustainable and renewable means, that’s a no brainer!
When we look at the “enormous” damage caused by Volcanoes and Earthquakes, is the (apparent) damage caused by mining and extraction of gas and oil any worse? The Earth has looked after itself for BILLIONS of years but not for the benefit of humans, humans are parasites that have become an infestation on this wonderful planet. It is likely that the Earth will continue to survive, despite human created problems but we need to become “planet friendly” again, like our ancestors if humans are to survive.
The modern human world is basically reliant on Electricity and “Electronic Devices”, although there are still many humans that don’t have access to Electricity and Electronic devices and their food, housing and clothing all appear to be “sustainable”. They also appear to live longer. It is difficult to imagine a modern world without Electricity and Computers but we need to find ways of producing Electricity and making Computers from renewable and sustainable sources. The “heart” of all “computers” rely on “Silicon” (sand) which is considered to be a “Renewable / Sustainable” source but associated elements e.g. plastics are not “Renewable / Sustainable” but can often be recycled.
We have many ways to produce Electricity some are more efficient than others but we really need to concentrate on renewable and sustainable methods that don’t make the “greedy few” rich and powerful. The Earth belongs to no one and we should share the resources and the lands. No human has any “legitimate” means to “own land” because the Earth does not have a sales office or any means for people to purchase land so the “ownership” of land is a hoax that allows a “few” to profit at the expense of others by using force or threat of force.
We might be facing a “Houston we have a problem” situation but this is only relevant to the survival of humans. The Earth will continue to survive. The tectonic plates will still continue to move, Earthquakes and Volcanoes will still continue as they have for BILLIONS of years. The Earth will still be subject to the “rhythm” of the Universe and gravity, Dark Matter and that will never change.
With regard to computer manufacturing, we need to find an alternative to plastic and that might not be too difficult. Surprisingly “Seaweed” is being used as an alternative for some things and Bamboo is also another contender, both are sustainable and renewable. Neither appear to damage the planet. The use of these these two surprising natural products is still mostly experimental but look promising. There are also some advancements in using “cellulose” generally and these seem to be awesome.
With regard to the production of Electricity, this is currently fraught with problems. Electricity really needs to be produced using renewable and sustainable sources and we do have several options. Harnessing the light from the Sun using Solar Panels is awesome but to make them useful they rely on storage batteries and storage batteries rely on “Lithium” which is a mined ore that creates a LOT of pollution during the mining of it. Lithium can be extracted from sea water but it is currently not cost effective. We need to find ways to produce Electricity that doesn’t rely on raping the planet of its resources to enable us to continue our use of computers and electricity.
The current trend of using Electric Vehicles (EVs) is on the one hand a genius solution but on the other hand it is probably one of the most stupidest ideas because EVs need batteries and batteries need Lithium which is a mined ore and the mining of it creates a lot more pollution than generating Electricity in the normal ways. EVs are profit led and ultimately damage the planet.
Wind power generators ought to be a really good option but it seems they need the “right type of wind” and in many cases they use power from the grid to get them started so Wind power is looking like a bit of a non starter unless it has a major re-think. Wind farms are not only a blot on the landscape, they also appear to be not a good solution. If they were doing the job and were providing an abundance of low cost electricity, we wouldn’t be subject to the current high and rising costs of electricity.
For many years I have been an advocate of “Nuclear Power” but having realised that it relies on Uranium (a mined ore) this no longer gets my vote. However, things change and the mining of uranium might not be as big as a requirement for Nuclear Power.
Nuclear Fusion (think small self-contained “mini Suns”) is now looking like it is achievable. If this is the case then it can potentially solve our energy requirements. Nuclear power has many advantages but these need to be offset with the disadvantages, it needs to be planet (and human) friendly. It also needs to be low cost and available to the masses.
Hydrogen power is coming on in leaps and bounds and may yet be a good solution. Water (of which we have an abundance) is made up of Hydrogen and Oxygen and if we can find a “cost effective” method of “splitting” the Hydrogen and Oxygen from water, we should have a very good source of “fuel” to provide electricity. However, caution is needed. What will happen to all the surplus Oxygen and what will happen to our abundant supply of water. Something to keep a eye on!
Water and “Wave” produced Electricity seem to be the way forward. We should be looking at installing “water powered generators” in all of our (main) rivers and should be making more use of Tidal flow to produce Electricity.
Water powered turbines have provided a reliable method of producing Electricity since the onset of the “Industrial Revolution” and probably before. It beggars belief that we don’t make more use of water powered turbines, maybe this is something to do with “profits”! Imagine a situation where we have thousands of Water powered Generators in our rivers, all placed where they don’t impact “Wild Life” and all squirt electricity to the “National Grid”. Electricity produced at close to zero cost 24/7 and is sustainable and renewable. Why are we not using this system?
Hydro power is also a good solution. We have an “open system” and a “Closed system” and both have merit. The “Open system” is best used where there is a constant flow of water that doesn’t change much and often involves building dams.
Geo Thermal Energy is one of those “Light Bulb” situations a bit like Water powered turbines. Basically to use “Geo Thermal Energy” all we need to do is drill deep holes in the Earths crust and (in principle) insert a “U” shaped pipe filled with water, the water in the pipes then absorbs heat from the Earths crust. The depth of the hole “determines” the temperature of the water in the pipe. If the temperature of the water in the pipe gets hot enough to produce “steam”, it can be used to drive generators for electrical power.
Geo Thermal Energy could be seen as sustainable and renewable and appears to be safe and doesn’t cause any pollution. Unfortunately we don’t really know if it damages the planet by extracting heat. The boffins appear to suggest this is not a problem but it is still a situation where we are raping the planet, in this case we are extracting heat. If this is used in a “big style” we could cause problems with cooling the planet. On the other hand it could reduce volcanoes as there would be a reduced need to exhaust heat (maybe). We need to approach Geo Thermal Energy with caution. It has the potential to provide a sustainable and renewable source for providing energy but we need to make sure that we are not causing any damage to the planet. It is likely there will be a “balance” and Geo Thermal Energy can only produce “x” amount of our energy needs.
In the UK, most homes are supplied with Electricity via the “National Grid” and the “National Grid” is not and will never be capable of differentiating the origin of the “supplied” Electricity, the Electricity you get from the “National Grid” will be the result of Electricity produced by any method and will also include Electricity purchased from a “abroad”. To be clear, the “National Grid” distributes Electricity that is produced by many different methods e.g. Nuclear power stations, Wind Farms, Solar Farms etc and it is impossible to know the origin / source of the “generated” Electricity, when you use it in your home.
Humans can survive without computers and can probably survive without electricity but would you want to? Electricity, Computers and “appliances” have become an intrinsic part of (modern) human life and our modern lives would be very different without Electricity, Computers and appliances. Would you really want to revert to the “dark ages” without electricity, I suspect not!
We really need to use renewable and sustainable energy sources that don’t require the use of “Storage batteries” that rely on the mining of Lithium. Mining / extraction of any “resource” (including Uranium) potentially damages the planet but does it? The movement of the tectonic plates, earthquakes and volcanoes are a natural feature that “shape” our landscapes so the mining / extraction of gas, oil and minerals might be insignificant but until we know for sure we need to stop damaging the planet and start living with the planet and make sure that everything we (humans) do is sustainable and uses renewable sources. Ideally, humans would have a zero impact on the planet and we live using sustainable and renewable resources.
Is this possible? The answer is YES. Humans are tool makers, engineers and scientists but we have a small minority that are “profiteers” who are not tool makers, engineers or scientists, we need to make sure that they don’t profit from damaging the planet. We need to make sure that the profiteers become penniless and that every human benefits from using sustainable methods.
Most people who are capable of conscious thought would realise that anything that we mine does not have an unlimited supply. Most people would probably accept that the resources that we are raping from the planet were formed MILLIONS of years ago and will ultimately deplete. Most people are aware that Natural Gas reserves are depleting very quickly as is Crude Oil (to some degree) as is any mined ore. This is a situation that mainly affects humans. The planet has survived for some 4 Billion years but humans have raped it of its resources (big style) in only a few hundred years.
What will happen when there is no more natural gas or crude oil or mined ores? In principal we will be “up sh*t creak without a paddle”, unless we find renewable and sustainable alternatives! It is not “Rocket Science” but needs some joined up thinking!
All things considered, we should be treating the planet with respect and make sure our parasitical human existence does no harm to the planet. We should be removing the “profiteers” and share the world because the Earth belongs to no one!
With regard to “green house gases” and “carbon footprint”, we are being fooled and it is basically a load of bollux. The profiteers are in action! “Weather records” started about 130 years ago and atmospheric CO2 was then about 0.4% of the atmosphere, it is still pretty much the same today, it certainly hasn’t increased by any significant amount (globally) so the “green house gas” thing is basically a hoax. Rising sea levels (due to the ice caps melting due to global warming) doesn’t seem to have happened in any significant way over the past 100 years or so but maybe “rising sea levels” is something of concern as the Earth continues to warm.
With regard to Global Warming, it started about 1.2 Million years ago after being in an “Ice Age” for some 65 / 66 Million years. We also need to pay heed to the fact that the planet has had many “ice ages” and “tropical periods” over the past 4 Billion years and these appear to be cyclic so there isn’t much (if anything) we can do other than adapt to the changes. Humans were not around during past (Dinosaur) tropical and ensuing ice age periods so “human created green house gases” are a bit of a hoax. As the Earth continues to warm until it is no longer in an “ice age”, Sea levels are likely to rise due to melting of the glaciers but the estimates of up to 2 Metres seem to be exaggerated. However there is still a lot of ice / glaciers and it is likely rising sea levels could become more apparent in the fullness of time. The global temperatures are likely to increase so we need to be looking at ways to keep cool / comfortable. We also need to start living in areas that will not be affected by rising sea levels.
Break out the sun block, find ways to keep cool / comfortable and go with the flow 🙂
The forces of gravity, dark matter, the “rhythm” of the galaxy and indeed the Universe may become fully understood by humans in the fullness of time but until we have a better understanding, we need to concentrate on living in a sustainable manner and only use renewable “products / substances” to enable carbon based life forms and vegetation to continue to survive. The Earth does not need humans or animals and quite likely doesn’t need vegetation, it will survive as it has done for 4+ Billion years!
In conclusion, are we really damaging the planet? The answer is debatable. It is likely that the planet can survive without the “minerals” that humans extract and / or mine. However, the “minerals ” that humans extract were produced millions of years ago and are not sustainable, when its gone, its gone.
It is likely that the planet will survive as it has done for 4 Billion years but if humans want to continue to survive, we need to use sustainable and renewable sources for food, shelter, clothing and energy. In a nutshell humans need to stop raping the planet of its resources and make sure our existence continues by using sustainable and renewable resources. Natural Gas reserves are depleting very quickly, Crude Oil reserves have an estimated 50 years left (maybe guesswork). Other mined resources are anyones guess. The one thing that is absolutely certain is that these resources will eventually deplete so we need to be looking at renewable and sustainable alternatives. An alternative to crude oil might be difficult because it provides us with so many “products” that our modern lives depend upon but crude oil is a fairly modern “product” that our ancestors didn’t have access to.
Human survival is dependent on being able to provide shelter, food and clothing for our ever increasing numbers but we need to remove the “profiteers” that benefit from raping the planet of its resources. The “profiteers” know that the resources are dwindling and that things like “Natural Gas” and “Crude Oil” are coming to an end and they will do everything possible to make sure that their profits are not affected but unfortunately “When its Gone, its Gone“.
The Earth belongs to no one, we need to share the world and control the rising numbers of humans that will all need feeding, housing and clothing. Humans need to live in a sustainable manner, otherwise we will perish. Humans (and animals) need to “evacuate” body waste and this waste can contribute to the rise in Methane in the atmosphere but currently the vegans are blaming cows because they (Vegans) have an agenda. Vegans blaming cows for methane production is like “the kettle calling the pot black”. However, ruminant animals do produce Methane in large quantities due to the digestion process of grass, this is something that is currently being addressed but the production of Human (and Animal) poo, collectively, produces Methane. The rising number of Humans and animals all excrete “waste” and this does produce Methane. In many cases this “waste” can be used as “Bio Fuel” and the Methane produced is used as fuel to produce Electricity.
A situation of having a handful of Billionaires while a lot of people are living in poverty suggests that we are a failed society, that is based on greed and corruption. The Earth doesn’t need humans, animals or even plants to survive but Humans need animals and plants to survive. Humans need food and shelter to survive, clothing is optional in some cases. We (humans) need to respect animals and plants because they provide us with food and shelter. We also need to respect our planet and “live with nature” so that our existence is benign and causes no problems for the Earth.
The Earth will likely continue to survive as it has done for some 4 BILLION years, regardless of anything that humans do or don’t do. The Tectonic plates will continue to move, Earthquakes will continue to occur and Volcanoes will continue to erupt. The Earth will continue to be subject to the “rhythm” of the Universe, it will continue to be subject to the forces of Gravity and Dark Matter. Humans have no control of this and never will. The only thing humans can do, if they / we want to survive, is to adapt to the changes and accept that we are basically parasites that cannot change the natural forces and the “rhythm” of the galaxy and ultimately the Universe.
Humans might continue to survive by not causing airborne and other pollution that damages our health and well being but we need to find ways to live using sustainable and renewable sources for Food, Shelter, Clothing and our Energy needs.
The question “Are we really damaging the Earth” is debatable. Any (apparent) damage to the planet caused by humans e.g. mining activities will mainly affect humans, animals and plants. The Earth has no need for humans, animals or plants!
Any atmospheric “pollution” caused by humans will only affect humans, animals and plants so the “Greenhouse gases” thing is probably bollux, with regard to damaging the planet. The Earth doesn’t need humans, animals or plant life to exist / survive. The Earth is about 4 BILLION years old but has only had a “atmosphere” for some 2 BILLION years (apparently). It has its own “maintenance system” that includes the movement of the tectonic plates and resulting earthquakes, it has volcanoes that spew out more atmospheric pollution than humans can create over many years. The Earths maintenance system is not and will never be for the benefit of humans, animals and plant life. The Earth is just one of many planets in our spiral Galaxy and there are (apparently) 125+ BILLION Galaxies in the Universe. All planets are subject to gravity and dark matter and probably other stuff that we don’t yet fully understand.
“Are we (humans) damaging the “environment” to the risk of the demise of humans“, is also debatable.
Without a doubt, if we (humans) are to survive on this planet; we need to be using sustainable and renewable resources for Food, Shelter and Clothing. We also need to adapt to the constantly changing planet. We need to accept that Global Warming and Global Cooling are cyclic and have been for BILLIONS of years. We need to accept that the Climate changes constantly and isn’t something new or indeed something caused by human activity. However if humans want to continue to live on this planet, we need to make sure that we are not creating pollution that would jeopardise the survival of our offspring and future generations.
We may have reached the point where there are just too many humans, who all need shelter, food and housing. The current number of humans could be seen as an infestation and the planet perhaps cannot support this many human parasites, unless we change our ways and stop being parasites that take and give nothing in return. Our best bet for a continued Human survival is to live our lives in a sustainable and renewable way, where our Clothing, Shelter, Food and Energy requirements have zero impact on the Earth
We need to live in harmony with the planet and use joined thinking. Plant life (vegetation) and “simple” life forms are not seen as parasites and can be seen as beneficial or benign in that they don’t cause any damage to the planet.
Humans are just basically parasites that rape the planet of its resources and produce pollution but it is debatable that human pollution is damaging the planet. It is possible that human pollution might cause problems for our future generations but again this is debatable. Yes, we need to be more aware of the “pollution” we are creating and Yes we need to make sure our survival is based on sustainable and renewable sources but we need to accept that the planet has its own “maintenance” system and the planet is subject to being a “member” of a Galaxy and ultimately a member of the the Universe. We need to accept that humans have no control of the Galaxy and have no control of the Universe.
All things considered, humans are not damaging the planet but we are potentially creating problems for our future generations. Humans are basically parasites that need to become benign and have no negative impact on the planet. Our very existence should not cause any negative actions for the planet or for our future generations.
Unfortunately our technological achievements will amount to nothing if we continue to live as we do and continue to rape the planet of its resources. We need to find alternative renewable and sustainable ways to maintain our technological advances. We need to remove greed and corruption and share the world.
For Humans to survive, we need to engage our fantastic brains and become “Free Thinkers” that are not subject to “Mind Control”. We are all INDIVIDUALS and we should dismiss religion, politics and MSM (Main Stream Media) because they are all trying to control what we think.
Religion is mostly a method of “social control”, where we live our lives using “rules”. Without rules, it would be very difficult for “individuals” to live in a peaceful collective society. Unfortunately different religions don’t appear to have a “Common Ground” other than “Self Sacrifice”. Non of the religions that I have looked at accept that “Life is everything and death is nothing”!
Politics basically uses the same psychology as religion. Fairy stories usually begin with “Once upon a time” but politics start with “If I’m elected”. Unfortunately politicians are basically puppets who are controlled by the “Establishment”; who are ultimately controlled by the wealthy.
MSM basically use the same psychology as religion and politics but have the main goal of profiteering. They don’t really care if their “content” is factual and it seems their agenda is to create problems where non exist. At best they are nothing short of a propaganda machine and have a political bias that tries to influence people, instead of sticking to facts. The MSM in most cases offer only opinions and have no interest in being a neutral, non biased media.
We are all INDIVIDUALS and the colour of our skin should have no relevance, we are all human and we all have the same needs with regard to food and shelter.
In closing. It is very likely that we are damaging the planet physically by our mining activities and extraction of crude Oil and Natural Gasses but the Earths maintenance system is likely able to negate this. The Earth has been “evolving” for 4 BILLION years and is in constant “flux” due to the movement of the Tectonic plates, Earthquakes and Volcanoes. It could be that the Earth needs to maintain a “balance” to avoid a change in the orbit around the Sun. The Earths maintenance system is not for the benefit of Humans, Animals or Plant life but we are potentially creating problems for our future generations and quite probably for animals and plant life. Global Warming is something that we have no control over and is very real. Climate change is constant and has been for Billions of years, Humans are not able to control this. To help our future generations survive, we need to live using sustainable and renewable resources for food, shelter, energy needs and clothing (where needed).
We need to find out what actually caused the planet to start warming about 1.2 Million years ago, after being in an ice age for some 65 Million years. It wasn’t humans because we weren’t around or weren’t around in significant numbers.Cyclic Global Warming and Global Cooling does appear to be factual. Human created Greenhouse gases would appear to be a hoax.
Humans will very soon become 8 Billion count and we all produce “Bio waste” that needs disposing of. We all need shelter, food, clothing and energy and this really needs to be provided by sustainable and renewable “methods”.
Our (Human) energy needs is something that needs addressing, it needs to be sustainable and renewable.
The Earth will continue to do what it has done for 4 BILLION years and it will never be for the benefit of humans, animals or plant life. The Earth is a member of the Milky Way Galaxy and in turn is a member of the Universe as such it is subject to “Universal forces” such a Gravity and Dark Matter. Anything that Humans do or don’t do is superficial to the survival of the planet but if Humans want to survive on this constantly changing planet, we need to adapt to the constant changes and we need to live by using renewable and sustainable means. We need to respect our wonderful planet and live in harmony with it or we (Humans) will perish and become extinct.
