The planet that we live on that we call Earth is getting quite a lot attention from the MSM (Main Stream Media), in particular “save the planet” and “there is no plan B” etc. All of which is being used to stir people up, using emotion, and we also have the “Climate Change” protestors and the “Global Warming” protestors, not forgetting the idiotic “Extinction rebellion” nutters who appear to have some hidden agenda.
There does seem to an absence of joined up thinking and factual information but should we be concerned about the “potential” damage we are “apparently” doing to our wonderful host (Earth)?
Throw off your mental chains, at least try to become a free thinker and try to see all “opinions” but always stick to facts! Please remember If someone has a different opinion to you, it doesn’t mean they are wrong or that you are right. Opinions are just opinions and are not facts. Quite often different people have access to information that is sometimes lacking in factual content and some people haven’t had access to ALL the facts. Some people “cherry pick” facts and try to twist them to suit their agenda.
Beware, some people deliberately confuse facts with opinions and some people deliberately present opinions as facts. Some people very cleverly intermingle facts with BS opinions to make (the article) sound “authoritative” and these can be difficult to spot, especially the “crafted” articles put out by the MSM. Also difficult to spot are the “experts” that have an (often hidden) agenda, it is worth trying to find out who is paying the “said” expert! It seems that “experts” can be “bought” and their “opinions” can be influenced by their paymasters.
Humans have, without any doubt, done quite a lot of damage to the planet over the past few hundred years and most of this cannot be repaired. However, at the same time the Earths natural events have damaged / changed the Earth. It is likely that the Earths natural events could be a way of repairing itself but it won’t be able to restore “natural resources” that humans have extracted e.g. Oil, Gas, Coal, “Ores” as these were created 4+ Million years ago.
It is worth noting that the Earth belongs to no one. This wonderful Earth has been here a very long time, well before humans started to inhabit it and it doesn’t have a sales office. This means that if you have bought any land, you were basically robbed because the seller didn’t own any land. The Earth does not have any method in place for anyone to purchase any land or part of it. Anyone who “apparently” owns land can only do so by force or threat of force. Moving on.
Humans have mainly damaged the planet in any significant way for about 2 or 3 hundred years, maybe more if you include removing trees to grow food and build homes. Quarrying for stone and slate, mining for coal and ores such as copper, bauxite and more has occurred for maybe 2000 years or more. The mining along with extracting of crude oil and natural gas over the past 2 or 300 years has possibly had a major impact on the planet but the Earth is in constant flux, Volcanoes, Earthquakes and the movement of the Tectonic plates (VET) are part of Earths “maintenance” and have been for BILLIONS of years. I’m not aware of any disagreements with that.
It is very possible that humans could destroy the planet, unintentionally or otherwise. Most of the damage caused by humans is basically only a problem for humans, animals and maybe plant life. The Earths “maintenance” is “self preservation” and not for the benefit humans or animals! The Earth has looked after itself for BILLIONS of years but is still part of the Milky Way Galaxy and the Universe . It still reacts to the “rhythm” of the Galaxy and Universe as it has done for BILLIONS of years.
Lets put some perspective on things and IMO look at what we (think) we know:- (everyday is a school day and hopefully we learn more about our planet)
- The Earth was apparently formed some 4.5 BILLION years ago, about half a BILLION years after the Sun was formed. The beginnings of our Universe started about 15 BILLION years ago and was the result of a “Super Nova” (a.k.a.The Big Bang). There are a few that don’t subscribe to the “Big Bang Theory” but in the main most scientists tend to agree with the “Big Bang Theory”. Timings are probably more estimates than facts and could be + / – a few Million years.
- I struggle to imagine a few thousand years and a MILLION years is off the scale. A BILLION years is like forever so 4 BILLION is 4 x forever!
- A good article / documentary by Richard Hammond has some awesome graphics and interviews with people in the know. It makes you realise how insignificant humans are and that the Earth exists purely by chance, as does the existence of humans.
- The Earth is just one of many planets in our galaxy but appears to be the only one that supports carbon based life forms. It just happens to be the “right Size” to maintain a lot of water, without which there would be no life; human or other.
- It just happens that its position, in relation to our Sun, makes it a viable home for carbon based life forms that isn’t too hot or too cold.
- The Earth has a natural “rhythm” / “maintenance” system, which consists of Volcanoes, Earthquakes and the movement of the Tectonic plates (VET) and this appears to have been in place since the planet was formed. There doesn’t seem to be any disagreements with this but “maintenance” might be the wrong word.
- The Earth is one of many planets in the Galaxy and is “subject” to the “rhythm” of the Universe and the many Galaxies within the Universe. Natural forces like Gravity and Dark Matter appear to be controlling factors in the stability of Galaxies and indeed the Universe. Without Gravity and Dark matter, we probably wouldn’t have stable Galaxies or indeed a stable Universe. With regards to “stability”, it appears our Galaxies and Universe are still expanding and Gravity will, at some point, cause our Universe to start collapsing back into a “Black Hole” but we are talking BILLIONS of years and this will probably be after humans have either destroyed themselves or the the planet.
- Humans only have a lifespan of about 70 / 80 years which in the grand scheme of things is a blink of the eye. Trees and some animals have a lifespan of 100+ years.
- The Earth has had an “atmosphere” that (possibly) contained Oxygen for about 2.5 BILLION years.
- Having an “atmosphere” probably gave us a “Climate” and due to the natural rhythm of the Earth, the “Climate” is in constant flux. It changes constantly as do the land masses, due to Volcanoes, Earthquakes and movement of the Tectonic plates.
- During the past 4 Billion years, “Global warming” and “Global cooling” have apparently occurred many times, according to some experts. There doesn’t seem to be any disagreements with this but we don’t really have any records to look at other than core samples. 4.5 BILLION years is a very very very long time.
- Dinosaurs lived on this wonderful planet apparently for some 180 Million years, during this time the “climate” is thought to have been “tropical” and land masses were apparently covered in vegetation and trees etc. The Oceans had an abundance of “Algae” and the CO2 levels were apparently about 20% of the atmosphere. I haven’t found any reference to indicate the percentages of other gases but if Oxygen was around 19% and CO2 was about 20%, Nitrogen would have been less than 60% – allowing for other gases like Ozone, Methane etc but that is guesswork on my part.
- The Dinosaurs were apparently “wiped out” about 65 / 66 Million years ago and this is thought to have been the result of a meteor impacting with the Earth and creating a dust cloud that blocked out the heat from the Sun, which ultimately led to an “Ice Age“. The “evidence” for this theory can be found in the layers of rock strata (look up Denmark cliffs). There doesn’t seem to be any disagreements with this but there may be other theories.
- Dinosaurs appear to be earliest “life” on this wonderful planet but that doesn’t seem to include the “simple life forms”. Humans appear to have been in existence for 30,000+ years and this is a lot less than the 180 Million years that the Dinosaurs lived.
- This “Ice Age” (what ever the cause) lasted for some 64+ Million years. It isn’t clear if all of the Earths land masses and Oceans were ice bound or if the ice (glaciers) only covered “non Equatorial” areas.but were are still in this ice age.
- An “Ice age” is defined (by the experts) as “having ice at the polar caps”. I haven’t found any reference to how much ice or the extent it covers.
- About 1.2 Million years ago, The Earth warmed sufficiently to start the melting of the glaciers, which apparently formed our current landscapes and it is within the realms of imagination to accept this “landscape forming”. However, it takes a lot of imagination to accept that the melting of the Glaciers created features such as Mount Everest, the Andes, the Swiss Alps etc. The ice would have had to be pretty thick!
- We appear to have evidence that most of (geographical) Europe was still covered in “Permafrost” some 10,000 years ago but (what we now call) Britain was free of ICE / Permafrost (see Chedder Man). You might also find Noahs nuts to be of interest (about 7 or 8000 years ago).
- It seems that we don’t know what caused the Earth to start warming before 1.2. Million years ago but we absolutely know it wasn’t due to human created atmospheric pollution because humans we not around, as far as we know.
- We have some evidence of human existence about 30,000 years ago, from paintings and stuff found in the caves in the MiKong Delta (Vietnam)
- Humans were not responsible for the onset of “Global Warming” before 1.2.Million years ago because humans were not around.
- The Earth has survived (and evolved) for over 4 BILLION years. It has been subject to the constant changes within the galaxy and the Universe, all of which are subject to gravity and dark matter.
- Apparently our “universe” started with a “Super Nova” (big bang) some 15 BILLION years ago and the resultant expansion is still ongoing and will continue to expand until gravity starts to pull everything back. This will (likely) take BILLIONS of years. It isn’t clear when we will know that the “expansion” has reached its limit but it seems that it will be MILLIONS or even BILLIONS of years from now.
- Humans are Tool makers, Engineers and Scientists but in the “grand scheme of things” we are insignificant to the “workings” of the Universe. However, humans have infested the planet and our numbers are now over 8 BILLION. We all need to be fed and maybe clothed. We all all need to have shelter from the elements. We all need to dispose of human biological waste (poo) and we all need to dispose of non biological waste.
- The modern day is vastly different to the way we lived say 2000 years ago and the past 2 or 3 hundred years have indeed been significant in “Human created pollution”, which includes Green house gases.
- It would seem that the “Global Warming / Greenhouse Gases” thing is looking like a very clever hoax. If we step back and remove our blinkers, it can be seen that the biggest problem that (humans) face is the depletion of “natural resources”. Crude oil is no longer plentiful, Natural Gas is becoming no longer plentiful. All the “ores” that we mine are being depleted at an alarming rate. Lithium is a difficult and expensive Ore to mine and we seem to be relying on this to provide “Storage batteries” for our “Green” energy options.
- WE NEED to find sustainable and renewable energy sources that don’t rely on raping the planet of its resources.
- We NEED to make more use of “water power” and have a lot more “devices” that can generate electricity using the natural flow of water in rivers.
- From a Human perspective, the modern world relies on Electricity and Electronics but the planet has survived for BILLIONS of years without Electricity. Plants and animals don’t have any need for Electricity. With this in mind “saving the planet” is basically bullshit and is really all about maintaining profits for a handful of humans.
So what caused the Earth to start warming about pre 1.2 MILLION years ago, after being in an ice age for some 65 Million years? I have yet to find anyone that can give a definitive answer to that but some experts suggest that Global Warming and Global Cooling are cyclic and are part of the rhythm of the Universe.
We absolutely know it wasn’t due to human created Greenhouse Gases!
There are plenty of “fossil remains” to show that Dinosaurs existed over a certain time period but as of yet we don’t have any “fossilised” remains of human or human like existence that date back to 1.2. + Million years ago but the Earth is a big place! Maybe one day we will find evidence of human existence 1.2 + MILLION years ago and we will find that they created atmospheric pollution to such an extent that it caused the Earth to start warming 🙂
It is very unlikely that the build up of Green House Gases (GHG) was / were responsible for the onset of “Global Warming” pre 1.2 Million years ago. See item 12 above.
If CO2 was about 20% of the atmosphere (might not be factual) during the Dinosaur period, when most land masses were covered in vegetation and the seas were full of algae, where did the CO2 go during the 64 / 65 MILLION years of the Earth being partialy covered in ICE ?
During the 64 / 65 MILLION years where the Earth was partially covered in ice, Volcanoes, Earthquakes and the Tectonic plates were still doing their stuff and Volcanoes would have been producing huge amounts of atmospheric pollution, the same as they do today.
If we accept that GHGs don’t escape the Atmosphere, then it’s possible that naturally created GHGs could be the cause of “Global Warming”. Lets not forget that the “current” Global Warming started before 1.2 MILLION years ago.
If GHGs don’t escape the atmosphere, reducing or stopping the human created GHGs won’t make them disappear and they evidently won’t be absorbed into vegetation. Naturally produced GHGs will still occur so it’s likely that the “Human produced GHGs” thing is looking like a hoax or at least only a partial factor.
We have “experts” who advise that Volcanoes are responsible for “Carbon Based Life Forms” (Humans and animals) and that we need a “certain level” of GHGs (mainly CO2) to allow carbon based life forms to exist and to stop the planet from cooling but apparently an excess of CO2 causes Global Warming. It is also thought by some that Methane (CH4) also causes Global Warming. Again, what would happen to all this CH4 if we suddenly reduced or stopped producing it, would it magically disappear?
With regards to Global warming, we need to know if GHGs DO or DON’T escape the atmosphere. If they do, where do they go? Are they likely to cause problems in our Solar System? If GHGs DON’T escape the atmosphere, we have a “Status Quo” situation where reducing or stopping GHG won’t make the GHG disappear.
If Global Warming is not due to GHGs, what caused to the Earth to start warming before 1.2 Million years ago? Global warming and ice ages appear to have been “cyclic” events over the past 4.5 BILLION years and humans were not around. We need to look at the “big Picture” and remove the blinkers, the Earth is part of the Universe of hundreds or thousands of other planets and the Universe has a “natural rhythm”. If we look at “Galaxies”, we can see that there are more than we can imagine and are certainly more than most people can get to grips with.
Prior to the (current) global warming which started before 1.2 MILLION years ago, the Earth was apparently “Ice Bound” for some 65 MILLION years (due to a dust cloud that blocked the heat from the Sun) so there would not have been much in the way of vegetation or trees and the oceans would not have had much in the way of algae.
If the atmospheric levels of CO2 were indeed about 20% during the Dinosaur period, and the land masses were covered in vegetation, this would indicate that “vegetation” is not responsible for the reduction of CO2 / GHGs. If the CO2 content during the Dinosaur period was about 20% and it is now less than 0.5% where did it go!
The Earth was not formed for the benefit of Humans and in the grand scheme of things, humans have only been on Earth for a fraction of time. The Earth was created some 4.5 Billion years ago, 4.5 Billion years before humans inhabited it and started raping it of its resources.
The Earth is in constant flux and is constantly evolving, the movement of the Tectonic plates, Earthquakes and Volcanoes are part of the natural activity of the Earth. Over many years, land masses are formed or changed and humans have no control of these natural events. The rhythm of the Universe cannot be controlled by humans but human activities can maybe affect the natural rhythm of the Earth, which might have a knock on effect with the natural rhythm of the Universe.
The Earth (3rd Rock from the Sun) is just a micro dot in the Universe and it is subject to the forces of gravity and maybe other stuff that we don’t yet fully understand. The Universe is an “Organised Chaos” and it is apparently still expanding – see “Big Bang Theory“.
Global Warming and “Climate Change” apart, we need to stop damaging the planet and respect our wonderful planet. We (humans) are basically parasites that rob the planet of its resources and give nothing in return.
We humans appear to take this wonderful planet for granted but apparently it wasn’t always like that. It seems that our early human ancestors lived by treating the planet with respect and worked / lived with “nature”. Good examples of this can be found by looking at the history of our “First Nations” a.k.a. Aboriginal i.e. our early ancestors. It seems that life then was simpler, we killed what we needed to eat and used used skins etc for clothing. We also ate seeds, nuts berries etc that could be found by foraging. It seems that, like animals, we didn’t kill animals for sport and the “farming” of crops was yet to be invented. We apparently used natural features, like caves, for shelter and used trees and mud to build other types of shelter. Basically we relied on renewable sources for food, clothing and shelter. However, as the population grew, using trees for shelter and making fires became a problem.
I’m not a “tree hugger” or “environment” protester, I’m just a guy that is trying to make sense of the world in which I live. I like to look at the big picture and ask awkward questions! I never take anything at “face value” and I always question everything. If someone is telling me something, I ponder and ask myself “what has this person got to gain by telling me this”. I have in mind at all times that we are all individuals that often have a difference of opinion and I’m also mindful that opinions are not facts. I try my best to “see both sides” and try to understand why others have a difference of opinion but I tend to lean towards facts and this can often cause problems with people that don’t understand the difference between facts and opinion. I’m very much aware that facts and opinions are very often deliberately interchanged, mainly by people that want to profit from this confusion. These people will stop at nothing and will use “every trick in the book” to convince others that they should be of the “same mind” (of those that are trying to control) to allow them to profit at the expense of others.
I think (as a human) that we need to “up our game” and generally be nicer to each other. We need to rid ourselves of greed and corruption and stop killing each other “in the name of (cause)”. It is very likely that life forms (from other Worlds) that have managed to achieve “interstellar travel” will be far more advanced than humans. If we have been visited by other advanced life forms, over the years, they would see us as being very primitive despite our awesome achievements.
If we step back, engage our brains, throw off our mental chains and give some thought about the planet we live on; we will find that this planet was not formed / created for the benefit of humans and in reality we are basically parasites that have infested the Earth. We (apparently) started with 2 humans (1 male and 1 female) and there are now over 8 BILLION of us. We all need to be fed, clothed and kept warm. We all need to dispose of “human waste” (poo) and that is a big problem. We also need to dispose of human (non biological) waste and that is also a big problem, in the modern world.
Earth, is one of many planets in our solar system that orbit the Sun, it isn’t the largest planet and it not the smallest but it seems that it is the only planet in our solar system that can support “carbon based” life forms such as humans, animals and even insects. As far as we know all life forms on Earth are carbon based and “insects” and animals were on the planet before humans! It would seem that insects (animals) play a very important role in the survival of humans so it seems we need to “look after” our insects. Without our myriad of insects, it is likely that humans would find it difficult to survive, in particular the growing of food. We have developed (genetically modified) some plants to be “self pollinating” which means we don’t need the “pollinating insects” but there many plants that still need the “pollinators”.
Earth has (apparently) had an atmosphere for some 2.5 BILLION years (some suggest that this was when Oxygen was part of the gases in the atmosphere). I haven’t found any disagreements with this. CO2 is also important because it apparently enables “carbon based life forms” to exist! However, it is currently less than 0.5% of the atmosphere. Nitrogen is the most abundant gas and this appears to be of benefit to plants / vegetation! Generally speaking, plants absorb CO2 and give off Oxygen during daylight but at night plants give off CO2 and may absorb Oxygen.
Basically the Earth has looked after itself for BILLIONS of years. Volcanoes, Earthquakes and the movement of the Tectonic plates have been and still are part of the evolution of the planet. The Earth and its climate are in constant flux and like all planets it is subject to the forces of gravity.
The “Big Bang” theory suggests that our “Universe” is currently still expanding but at some point Gravity will cause the Universe to shrink and collapse back into a black hole but this process takes billions of years. Some don’t agree with the big bang theory. The thing to bear in mind is that gravity is a very powerful force, it is responsible for our Oceanic Tides. It is also a prime requirement to stop us floating about so that we can walk on the Earth. Gravity is without a doubt something that we need to know more about and be more aware of, it’s not all about apples! Moving on.
Dinosaurs existed on Earth, apparently, for about 180 MILLION years, I’m not aware of any conclusive evidence that suggests how Dinosaurs “came about”. Maybe they emerged from the “primordial soup”, it’s likely we will never know for sure.
From what we have (apparently) learned, the Earth has had several Ice Ages and Tropical Ages over the past 4.5 BILLION years and these seem to be cyclic. It is likely that these “Cyclic Climates” are in response to the changes with the Earth, its orbit and many other things to do with being part of a universe and gravitational effects. Maybe one day we will have a definitive answer to “what caused the Earth to start warming 1+ Million years ago“, after being in an “ICE Age” for some 65 / 66 MILLION years. We absolutely know it wasn’t human created atmospheric pollution because we weren’t around!
The current obsession with reducing CO2 emissions doesn’t make any sense. The CO2 content of our current atmosphere is less than 0.5% of the atmosphere and hasn’t really “significantly” changed since records began some 160 years ago. So there appears to be “an Agenda” by a small group of “profiteers'” that have managed to use BS to convince a lot of / most people that CO2 emissions are bad and are responsible for Global Warming but humans weren’t around pre 1.2 MILLION years ago so if CO2 is responsible for Global Warming, what caused the high levels of CO2 1.2 MILLION years ago, it wasn’t humans. It was very likely Volcanoes, which spew out a host of “Atmospheric Pollutants” but it could also be a result of our orbit round the Sun and many other factors that we don’t yet fully understand. The main thing to bear in mind is that atmospheric gases either escape the atmosphere or they don’t. If they don’t, then reducing the emissions won’t make them suddenly disappear.
Every day is a school day and we are finding out more about the planet that we call home.
Can we trust “experts” ? Without any doubt there are some “true” experts but there are many that are psuedo experts.
Early Humans could have been “ape like”, it isn’t clear how apes evolved prior to becoming “humans”! It isn’t clear why we still have primates / apes that haven’t evolved into humans. There are some suggestions that Humans are the product of “Other Worlds”. This would better explain why we have so many differences in skin colour and “facial features”. However, some DNA experts say that Humans evolved from 7 Black African women. I’m not a DNA expert but think this is very unlikely, mainly because it doesn’t seem plausible. Genetics and “breeding” are a wonderful thing but to compare black Africans with say Swedish, Japanese, Chinese, Germanic people and accept they all had a “common” (Black African) ancestry would take a huge leap of faith!
It doesn’t matter what the colour of your skin is, we are all humans. It doesn’t matter what your facial features and hair and eye colour are, we are all humans. We might have evolved from the primordial soup or we might have evolved from “seeds” from other worlds but we are all humans (Homo Sapiens) and we should all respect each others differences and accept we are are all individuals.
Humans, however, are basically “parasites” on this this awesome planet, we take and give nothing in return. Over the years we have raped this planet of it’s resources to help provide us with shelter and keep us keep warm and for a few to profit. The planet has enabled us to grow food and to breed animals, which we use to clothe and feed us. The Earth also enables animals to thrive and / or become extinct. The main difference between animals and Humans is that Animals “live with nature” and are not “parasitical” in the same way as Humans are. The Earth supports “plant life” and “plant life” is not “parasitical” in that it doesn’t take and give nothing in return.
The Earth will continue to “look after itself”, it will continue to have Volcanic eruptions and Earthquakes, the tectonic plates will continue to move and if Humans want to survive, they will need to adapt to the constantly changing environment. For hundreds of years, humans have raped the planet of its resources and we are now coming to the stage where Coal, Gas, Oil and other stuff (mined Ores) are becoming depleted. When its gone its gone, most of the stuff we rape from the planet was created a few MILLION years ago and is not “renewable”. If humans are to survive, we need to find alternative and renewable “Energy” sources. At some point we will need to find an alternative for Copper and Aluminium (conductors of electricity) because our modern world basically relies on the use of electricity. Recycling will help but won’t ultimately prevent shortages and this will create profiteers !
Hitting the nail on the head! All this GHG thing is likely due to a realisation that we are depleting the Earth of mined ores, gases and crude oil but instead of “being honest”, the “experts” are using BS to bamboozle us. Of course it could be that the “experts” are using “blinkered vision” and might even have a hidden agenda, depending on who is paying them!
We need experts that are “proper” experts, that are not controlled by their paymasters. Experts are people who are able to use “blinkered vision” to learn all that can be known about a “subject” but these same experts need to remove their blinkers from time to time and step back to look at the big picture.
Anyone who visits an art gallery will find that most pictures are best viewed from a “certain” distance to “appreciate” the picture (as a whole). However, if you hone in / magnify a certain small area of the picture to see more detail, you will lose the “Big Picture” view. If you lose sight of the “big picture” and concentrate on the small details, it is possible that you can arrive at a situation where the “beauty” of the big picture is lost.
Global warming will continue until we are out of the “current” Ice Age and then the Earth will (probably) start to cool again in a cyclic fashion.
Climate change will still be constant, as the Earth adapts to the current conditions. Volcanoes and Earthquakes will continue as a result of the constant movement of the Tectonic plates. Humans have no control over this.
The Earths “resources” will continue to dwindle (if we continue to rape the Planet) but this will only be a problem for humans and animals because the Earth doesn’t need humans or animals for its survival.
The human “count” is currently about 8 BILLION, about 10% of this number have a roof over their heads and a bed to sleep in but the wealth is held by less than 1% of the 8 Billion. The wealth is (ultimately) from mined ores, extracted gases and oil. This 1% absolutely know that the diminishing resources are coming to an end and they will no longer be able to profit! This 1% are doing everything possible to make sure they continue to profit but the dwindling of resources is inevitable and the only way to stop it is to stop the mining and extraction but this will stop their profits, rock hard place!
The only way the 1% can continue to profit is to find other planets to rape of its resources. It seems it is time to “pay the Piper”.
It seems that the 1% will stop at nothing to continue their quest for profit and will do everything possible to maintain their profits and this includes creating wars to enable them to take control of “lands” that still have “mining / extraction potential”. It isn’t difficult to find out where there are large deposits of Uranium or Oil or Gas, these are currently the top 3 resources needed for the profiteers.
Our children and future generations will need to adapt to the changes created by Global Warming. Planting trees and reducing CO2 emissions is laughable and there is no way we can repair the damage we have done. We can’t pump Oil and Gas back into the Earth, we can’t replace the coal and peat, we can’t replace the copper and other ores that we have mined. We could probably remove the huge expanses of “man Made” lakes and reservoirs but until we have a definitive answer to “what caused the Earth to start warming 1+ Million years ago” we are basically at the mercy of the profiteers’ and Pseudo Experts / agenda led people.
We currently have quite a few individuals that are trying to profit from the current day situation, in the same way that some profited from the “Millennium Bug” but this is different. Global warming is real but the Millennium bug was hyped up by the media and was only basically just a “line of code” that needed changing. Climate change is constant and has been for BILLIONS of years, Humans and their activities did not cause the Earth to start warming 1 + MILLION years ago and it is debatable as to whether the current human activities contribute to the Global Warming in any significant way.
The current “celebrity” climate change protestors are nothing but a joke! They “jet” around the world trying to convince people that CO2 emissions are bad for the environment but the Jet they have just traveled on has produced so much atmospheric pollution is unreal! Looking at things like “flightradar” and “planefinder.net” show that there are some 10000 jets in the air at any one time 24/7. Jets pump out heat, CO2 and other atmospheric pollutants.
We need to respect this lovely planet and stop damaging it any further. We need to adapt to the constantly changing climate. We need to be mindful that volcanoes. earthquakes and the movement of the tectonic plates are all part of the Earths evolvement. We need to be mindful that the Earth is “just another planet” in the universe and is subject to “cosmic events”, which we might not yet (fully) understand.
Humans have unwittingly / unintentionally damaged the planet over many years and this can not be repaired. If we continue to mine ores, extract gas and oil etc; we will continue to damage the planet (maybe). The Earth will continue to have volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. The movement of the tectonic plates will continue but the Earth won’t be able to repair the damage humans have done in the past couple of hundred years or so.
If humans are to continue to survive on this wonderful planet, we need to adapt to the environmental changes and we desperately need to find alternative and renewable sources for “electrical conductors”. Copper and Aluminium are “mined ores” and will eventually deplete. Nuclear power relies on Uranium (a mined ore) and this will eventually deplete. The modern world relies on electricity and electronics; which need “electrical conductors”, the best ones are copper, aluminum and gold but we might need to make more use of “semi conductors” and / or maybe find ways to use “renewable” sources.
Something to ponder.
We are currently being bombarded with CO2 emissions and the need to reduce the “Carbon Foot print” but if the buildup of CO2 is causing Global Warming because it doesn’t escape the Earths atmosphere, reducing our CO2 emissions won’t make the CO2 disappear, it will remain at its current level!
Our climate experts appear to agree that we need a “certain amount” of CO2 in our atmosphere to keep the Earth warm but too much causes Global Warming. Our climate and other experts appear to agree that we need CO2 for “carbon based life forms” to exist. As we currently have about 8 BILLION humans, it would seem that the current CO2 content (less than 0.5% of the atmosphere) is adequate but if humans continue to increase, maybe we need more CO2 in the atmosphere. Humans are not able to control the “naturally produced” CO2 (from Volcanoes etc) but we can limit “human produced” CO2. All we need to do is find out what % of CO2 is good for the planet and good for humans and then control the amount of human created CO2.
Some “experts” have suggested that during the Dinosaur period, the CO2 levels were in the region of 20% , which is a lot more than the current (less than ) 0.5 % this could be BS. It is likely that the whole CO2 / Carbon footprint thing is BS!
Some “Experts” suggest that during the Dinosaur period, the Earths land masses were covered in vegetation / forests and the oceans had an abundance of algae. The “climate” was close to being “tropical” but it seems that the CO2 levels were much higher than the “current” CO2 levels, this indicates that trees and vegetation don’t “absorb” CO2 and don’t remove it from the atmosphere.
If the Earth was mostly covered in ice for some 65 Million years, there would not have been much in the way of vegetation or algae but Volcanoes, Earthquakes and the movement of the Tectonic plates would have still been a feature. Did the build up of CO2 cause the onset of Global Warming? This is a possibility but if the CO2 levels were around the 20% level prior to the onset of the ice age and the current CO2 levels are less than 0.5 %, where did the CO2 go? It apparently doesn’t escape the atmosphere and builds up but during the 65 MILLION years of an ice age where vegetation would have been minimal, what caused the CO2 levels to reduce from 20% to less than 0.5 % ? Maybe our “experts” are only guessing!
We have to keep in mind that “experts” are not always “independent” and heir “opinions” may differ according to who is paying them the most!
For humans to survive the “cyclic” Global Warming, we need to adapt. It is likely that Global Warming will increase our sea levels (due to the melting of the Ice Caps) so we need to start living on higher ground and that is a no brainer.
Global warming is very real. it is cyclic and will continue until we are no longer in an “ice age”! It isn’t clear when we are no longer considered to be in an “Ice Age” but it will probably be something to do with the amount of ice we have at our polar regions.
Hopefully my wandering mind will encourage you to “throw of your mental chains” and start asking awkward questions. Every day is (hopefully) a school day and we are constantly learning new things about our wonderful planet but we need to keep “stepping back” and look at the big picture. We need to question everything and not take anything at face value. Todays experts are tomorrows numpties.
An “Open and Enquiring Mind” is a mind that will help solve our current situation but we also need to be aware that the Earth was not “formed” for the benefit of humans or animals. Due to the Nitrogen rich atmosphere, it may be that plants (vegetation) are the Earths “preferred partners”. Maybe the Earth is trying to remove human and other parasites to allow it to evolve!
